Work Experience: Vacation Work & Internships
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce are encouraged to obtain work experience through vacation work and internships. Vacation work and internships are a great way to get experience in professional working environments, use the skills and knowledge from your course and test your potential profession.
The University Careers and Employment Service supports students with resources, assistance and advice in relation to these opportunities. Students can also seek help with resume writing, interview skills and career planning from this service.
The Commerce Student Centre will also advertise various opportunities to students as they arise on this web page. The following opportunities currently exist:
Veolia International Internship - Location: Melbourne and Paris
Junior Business Development Co-ordinator
Applications have now closed.
An opportunity exists for a French speaking Bachelor of Commerce or BCom combined degree student to undertake an internship position with Veolia Transport in Melbourne and Paris in 2010. The internship will commence in January 2010 (date to be confirmed). The first six months of the internship will be spent in Melbourne and the final six months in France. The successful applicant will need to take a leave of absence from their course in 2010. The successful applicant will receive a travel grant of $2500 to assist with their travel to France and financial support for further French language development.
- Bachelor of Commerce single degree students – must be about to enter 4th, 5th or 6th semester of study.
- BCom combined degree students - must be about to enter 3rd, 4th or 5th year.
- Applicants must be able to speak and write French. Some further language training to enhance existing skills will be available.
- Students must be eligible for a leave of absence from their course.
