A Commerce email buddy program for international students
interCom mentor registration now open
The Student Experience Unit would like students to get involved as mentors for interCom for Semester 1, 2010. Mentors will provide email advice and support (from a student's perspective) to incoming exchange and international students.
The program requires only a small commitment, but offers great opportunities to:
- Build friendships and networks with people from around the globe

Help new students to make a smooth transition into life at University and Melbourne
We are looking for BCom students who:
- Are available to read and reply to emails from nominated buddies from Monday 25 January, 2010 to Monday 8 March, 2010

interCom mentee registration now open
The Faculty of Economics and Commerce has introduced an email buddy program for exchange and international students commencing their study at the University of Melbourne. The aim of the program is to assist you to adapt easily to study at University and life in Melbourne.
What is interCom?
interCom is a buddy program that gives you the opportunity to be in touch with a current University of Melbourne student (mentor) through email correspondence.
Am I eligible to register for interCom?
To be eligible to register for interCom, you must:
- Be an undergraduate student who will be enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).
- Be a postgraduate student who will be enrolling in a graduate degree offered by the Melbourne Graduate School of Management.
- Commence your BCom or graduate degree in Semester 1, 2010 or Semester 2, 2010.
How will I benefit from interCom?
By participating in interCom as a mentee, you will have a mentor to answer questions, share tips on local culture and practice your English language skills before arriving in Melbourne. Having a mentor is also a great way of extending social networks and linking up with groups and services, both on and off campus. It will help to improve the quality and speed of your transition to Melbourne.
When does interCom start?
interCom will run for a total of 6 weeks. It will start a month before your arrival in Melbourne and the start of semester and end 2 weeks after the semester starts.
How do I register to be an interCom mentee?
Mentee registrations for 2010 are now open. You will need to register online to be an interCom mentee.
