A Message from the Dean - Professor Margaret Abernethy
The Faculty of Business and Economics (formerly Faculty of Economics and Commerce) at the University of Melbourne has been preparing students for exciting and challenging careers in commerce since 1924. We have developed an outstanding reputation, locally and internationally, for the quality of our teaching and research.
We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the core disciplines of accounting, actuarial studies, business information systems, economics, finance, management and marketing. These programs attract the most able students from around Australia and overseas. We currently have one of the most active PhD programs in the country.
As a Faculty, we want to ensure that we continue to attract the highest quality students while at the same time providing access to a wider range of students through our access and equity programs.
Since the Faculty was established it has produced over 27,000 graduates. Many of our alumni now occupy senior positions in business, government and academia, in Australia and around the world.
