Faculty of Economics and Commerce

Latest News and Updates September 2008

The new building is well into its constructional phase, and is expected to be handed over to the University on practical completion, scheduled for Mid December 2009. The Faculty's new Graduate School will be located on levels four, five and six which will have state of the art teaching services and open student areas for graduate students to study and congregate.

The Commerce Student Centre counter will be located on level one, and will handle 80% of first level inquiries for the Faculty. This will include first level departmental inquiries and assignment submissions.

There is a strong likelihood that the Faculty's Teaching and Learning Unit will relocate to the new building, in order to consolidate the Faculty's presence and be a touchstone for commerce students within the precinct.

Many of the teaching services will be located from the basement through to level 6 in the building, including a new open access graduate school computer laboratory. State of the art facilities will offer students a combination of independent work spaces, and breakout consultative spaces.

The Faculty is looking forward to occupying this building in January 2009, after which it will vacate its current position in the Babel Building; but still retaining its presence in both the Economics & Commerce, and Alan Gilbert Buildings.

Updated floor plans listed, can be found under the design plans link on the Faculty's Internet site.
