1. Read the VTAC Guide |
Read the VTAC Guide for the coming year carefully before applying in order to understand the course requirements and application procedures. The VTAC Guide is available in major news agencies throughout Australia. Alternatively, Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) information, including application closing dates, can be viewed at www.vtac.edu.au, where an online application can also be made. |
|---|---|
2. Apply through VTAC |
VTAC acts on behalf of participating universities and other tertiary institutions to facilitate and co-ordinate the selection system. Although VTAC processes the applications, it is universities that are responsible for selecting students. |
3. Choose your preferences |
The application process allows you to apply for up to twelve courses in total. Australian citizens have the option to apply for both Commonwealth Supported Places and Australian fee places. To secure your place in the Bachelor of Commerce at Melbourne, make sure you place BCom Commonwealth Supported as your first Commonwealth supported place and BCom Australian fee place as your first Australian fee place preference. |
Remember, the University of Melbourne makes very few second-round or late offers, so do not take the risk of missing out on a Melbourne BCom offer by placing another Commonwealth supported or Australian fee course higher than the BCom at Melbourne on your application form.
Applications for the mid-year intake are for full fee places only and are made directly to the Faculty of Economics and Commerce.
Application forms are available online (PDF, 60kb) or from the Undergraduate Student Centre.
Students may apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Commerce either from other University of Melbourne degrees (‘Internal Transfers’), or from a degree at another institution (‘External Transfers’).
Note: from Semester 2, 2007 only existing University of Melbourne students may apply to transfer to double degree courses. These students must already be enrolled in one component of the degree in which they wish to transfer to.
To change courses at the end of the year you need to apply online through the Student Information System (SIS).The online internal transfer system normally opens in October and closes in early December. You will be required to meet the course prerequisites and selection will be based upon the results you have achieved to date in your studies, focusing on your most recent year of study.
To change courses mid-year, you need to apply directly to the relevant Faculty in the same way as newly enrolling students.
Students applying to transfer from another institution should apply in the same way as newly enrolling students, that is, through VTAC for the main intake, or directly to the Faculty at mid year.
This information applies to students who are seeking to resume study in the Bachelor of Commerce following termination from the University or discontinuation of study.
