Community Access Program (CAP) - Single Subject Enrolment
The Community Access Program (CAP) opens up study opportunities so that everyone has a chance to experience the benefits of expert tuition at the University of Melbourne.
CAP provides an excellent opportunity if you:
- have always had the desire to learn something new;
- have wanted to study but have had to postpone it for one reason or another;
- want to advance your career;
- are a student at the University of Melbourne or another tertiary institution and you wish to pursue an interest outside your current academic program;
- want to enhance your academic record; or
- want to explore a potential area of study before making a commitment to more intensive study.
CAP students attend the same classes as degree students during semester and enjoy borrowing rights at the University libraries.

top of pageThe Actuarial Control Cycle - Distance Education
Students who wish to apply for Actuarial Practice and Control subjects (which collectively cover Part II of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAAust) syllabus for qualification as a Fellow of the Institute) and undertake approved subjects by distance education should complete the following application form (PDF, 31kb). Please note the Actuarial Practice and Control subjects are offered on a non-award basis for all distance education applicants. Transferring to the Bachelor of Commerce
Students may apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Commerce either from other University of Melbourne degrees, or from a degree at another institution. You will be required to meet the course prerequisites and selection will be based upon the results you have achieved to date in your studies, focusing on your most recent year of study.
How to apply - Semester 1 2010
Local students
All Australian applicants, who wish to transfer to the University of Melbourne from another institution, and current University of Melbourne Australian students who wish to transfer to another course within the University (internal transfer) should apply online through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Please refer to the VTAC website for applications dates.
International Students
All International applicants, who wish to transfer to the University of Melbourne from another institution, and current University of Melbourne International students who wish to transfer to another course within the University (internal transfer) should apply directly to the University via the Future students website.
Cross-Institutional Study (Incoming)
Students enrolled in a degree at another institution who wish to undertake subject/s at the University of Melbourne for credit towards their degree at their home institution should apply directly to the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. Cross-Institutional Study (Outgoing)
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Commerce double degree who wish to undertake subject/s at another institution for credit towards their degree at Melbourne should apply directly to the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. This information applies to students who are seeking to resume study in the Bachelor of Commerce following termination from the University or discontinuation of study.

Credit policy
Students who wish to obtain credit for previous study, including students transferring courses, must do so at the time of application. Please refer to the Faculty of Economics and Commerce credit policy.
Access Melbourne
If you have issues of long term disadvantage and have applied to study through VTAC, you may be eligible for entry through Access Melbourne, the University’s Special Entry Scheme. Further information on Access Melbourne is avialable from the Access Melbourne website.
