Credit and Exemption Policy; The Graduate School, Faculty of Economics and Commerce.
Applications for credit or exemption should be made on the Application for credit/exemption form (PDF, 87kb). Printed copies of this form are available from the Graduate School office. Applications should normally be submitted to the Graduate School at the time of application or before enrolment is finalised. For studies not undertaken at The University of Melbourne, applicants need to provide:
- a certified copy of transcript of results for the subject/s for which credit is sought;
- a copy of the relevant section of the handbook in the year the subject/s was completed, showing course entry requirements, course structure, subject description, assessment requirements and weighting of subject/s within the course expressed as a proportion of the whole.
The Graduate Studies Committee has delegated its authority to approve applications for credit or exemption to the Program Director of each course subject to the approval of the Associate Dean (Academic Programs). Advice and/or recommendations of Departments will be sought in evaluating applications.
It is important to highlight that any credit or exemption granted by the Faculty may not meet the accreditation requirements of outside organisations. Students must seek advice from the accreditation body on whether the basis for the awarding of credit or exemption still meets their requirements.
