How do I check my enrolment status?
Students can check their current enrolment status via the Student Information System (SIS)
The SIS is also useful for information on timetables, results, to order academic transcripts and for all general administrative matters including change of address and personal details.

How do I find my timetable?
Students will be able to access their individual timetable via Alloc8. If there is more than one stream of the subject you are taking you will be allocated into a stream. You may change your stream via alloc8 subject to availability. Tutorials will be allocated in the first week of semester. Please note that you will need to set up your university pin number in order to access your individual timetable.

How do I change my subjects?
If you need to alter your enrolment you may do so via the SIS. Alternatively subject change forms are available from the Professional Programs office. If the subject you wish to add is not part of your current program, you will need written permission from your program director in order to enrol into the subject. Written permission will also be required from the lecturer of the subject. MBIT students should contact the MBIT-Team to discuss subject changes.
International students are required to maintain a full time load at all times.

When does the semester start / finish?
Students should refer to the Academic Calender for key dates including the commencement of semester, mid semester break, examination period and end date of semester.
For subjects which are run on a semester basis the key dates are as follows:
Semester 1: 27 February 2006 - 28 May 2006
Semester 2: 24 July 2006 - 29 October 2006
Timetable information for subjects including exact start and end dates for Summer, Winter and block mode subjects is available via the SIS.
Examinations will be scheduled after the commencement of each semester. The timetable for examinations is not released until May in semester 1 and September in semester 2. Students should refer to the SIS to obtain their examination schedule.

How do I apply for credit or exemption ?
Applications for credit or exemption must be made in writing. Students should familiarise themselves with the Faculty of Economics and Commerce Credit Policy for Professional Programs prior to submitting an application for credit/exemption.
All applications for credit or exemption in which students have completed subjects outside of the University of Melbourne must be accompanied by the Academic Transcript and Handbook entry or subject outline from the University from the year in which the subject was completed.

How do I transfer my course?
Applications for Internal Transfer must be submitted by 14 January (for transfer to take effect in Semester 1) or by 30 June (for transfer to take effect in Semester 2) of each year.
Applications must be submitted in writing using the Application for Internal Transfer form (pdf 87KB) which is also available from the Professional Programs Office.
Students will not be able to transfer course in their first semster of study. All applications for Internal Transfer will be assessed on an individual basis and will be decided primarily on the academic progress of the student.
Please note that successful transfer is also dependant on availability of subjects.
Students wishing to transfer their course or stream should note that their fees will come under the current fee structure which will mean fees will increase in most cases.
Do you offer any scholarships?
There are a limited number of scholarships available for students in coursework based Masters programs.

Can I study abroad?
Students may apply to study for one semester at an institution overseas. You will need the approval of your program director. Students' grades must be of good standing.
Study Abroad is a period of study undertaken at an overseas institution where any fees are paid to your host institution and you are on a leave of absence from the University of Melbourne.

What is the Student at Risk Program?
Students who fail a compulsory subject or more than 50% of the subjects attempted in a semester are identified as a Student-at-Risk and will be required to attend an interview with the Student at Risk committee. Students will be offered additional support and assistance to ensure the successful completion of their program.

How can I find a mentor
The Faculty of Economics and Commerce runs a postgraduate mentoring scheme which is available to students in the first year of their degree. The Postgraduate mentorship program is designed to assist new students to adjust to University life and the Faculty as quickly and as smoothly as possible. Students interested in participating in the scheme may express their interest by completing the Postgraduate Mentorship Program application form.
Where can I get assistance with my language and study skills?
If you are having difficulties with any of your subjects you should discuss these with your tutor. If you would like additional programs to develop your language and study skills, the Faculty of Economics and Commerce Teaching and Learning Unit offer a number of programs which are very helpful.
Students are also encouraged to discuss any problems with their Program Co-ordinator or staff in the Professional Programs Office.

How can I meet other postgraduate students in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce?
Students are encouraged to participate in the Social Events Program which is run by the Teaching and Learning Unit for Faculty postgraduates. The TLU run a number of events and excursions for Faculty Postgraduate students. Events are advertised via the student postgraduate email list.
Postgraduate events are also organised by the School of Graduate Studies and UMPA.
